A word about Misfortune High on Kickstarter

We all like to pay lip service to seeing more heroes of different ethnicities in comics, but I believe in doing more than just talk. I believe in doing something about the problem.

Misfortune High is the story of a spoiled rich wizard kid who gets sent to a wizard school in the ghetto as punishment for cheating, wherein we meet Star, Warren, Sonia, and Johnny Cuervo. The story is meant to look at the cultural and class divides in our society, but still keeping a sense of whimsy and fun with all the magic content.

Right now, Misfortune High is on the tail end of the Kickstarter to launch the second book and we need your help to make it real. In this Kickstarter, you can get book 1 to start from the beginning or get book 2 to get caught up. Both digital and print versions are available through the campaign. The campaign ends 4/11, with a few extra bucks left to fund so time is running out to support this great project.

The first 8 pages of book 1 are available to read here.

If comics diversity is a thing you care about, please support the doers in our community willing to put their pen where their mouth is. Thank you.

The kickstarter is less than $800 away from it’s goal with only four days to go! Jules is one of the hardest hustling indie creator people I know, please check out her book and consider picking up a copy and chipping in!

Cavalier is a short comic that I’m drawing soon, trying to start a career of working on stories and art for a living, I’ve already done most of the footwork, now all I need is help. If you want to support a fledgling comic artist or just want to read a cool story with pretty art, please consider donating something. Anyone who donates over $5 will get something in return, either the comic, or extra bonus like art drawn specifically for you.
I’m in the era of my life where I could become something great, so this small fund drive could give me the confidence, practice and support I need to go really far. What I’m asking for is printing costs and about $8/hour for how long the comic will take to draw, which I hope seems fair. More than anything I want to create things that entertain people, because i love creating more than anything. So if you have $5 laying around please consider helping me out!
Check out my campaign page right here! And don’t forget, reblogging is also super helpful, I’m thankful for every single one! Thanks for reading

I can at least rest easy knowing I completed the comic portion of my Halloween round… on Halloween! It’s about the small victories.

I hope by now, if you celebrate such things, that you are enjoying your hard-earned (or bought) candy!

READ THE ANTHOLOGY ONLINE or DOWNLOAD THE PDF

The idea behind We Don’t Go There At Night is very simple. Eighteen artists, two short texts, and one prompt: to make a Halloween comic with only the words provided.

152 pages of pure comix, by 18 different artists, from just 2 scripts — all for you, for free, for Halloween 2013!

From city streets to forest glades, subterranean ruins and the inside of a video game, take a look and see how far the imagination of any one comic artist can take you. WDGTAN showcases an incredible range of talents and styles from across the online comics scene, with stories ranging from 2 to 20 pages and full links to each artist’s work on the web, so you can easily find and follow your favourites.

The Misfortune High Kickstarter is LIVE!  Go, make a pledge, watch the videos.  Nearly a year of posting on Tumblr has brought us to this point!
The pitch: Biscuit is a privileged kid from the fanciest magic school in town.  After he is found with cheating paraphernalia, he is expelled, and as punishment his father sends to a magic school on the bad side of town.  Book 1 captures the opening of Biscuit’s story, as well as introduces a whole host of colorful characters from the other side of the train tracks.  It’s a magic story with laughs, fun, dragonballs, and heart.

HEY! Misfortune High has a Kickstarter! Jules is ALMOST halfway to the goal, aahhhh, super exciting! Gotta decide which of these reward packs I want…
If you want to support something I know has had a lot of love and hard work put into it, think about sending some bucks this-a-way… or maybe you could just reblog and spread this around to some other eyeballs?

Gotta figure out how I want to shade this. This is for a competition I am in over on dA, just as a little aside for fun! Harlowe has a lot of people running around backstage… she should get them matching TEAM HARLOWE t-shirts, or something.

Thank you to Kayzig for letting me borrow Campbell, and thank you to Sammy for letting me borrow Logan and Eleanor!

WE’RE BACK! There’s a new Muse Mentor page up and ready to go, full steam ahead!

The Muse Mentor is updating, again! Watch as I slowly try to pull my scheduling back on track! If you guys want to pass this around this time, I’d really appreciate it. I don’t know how many people think this fell off the radar after the little holiday break.
