Aw, thank you very much! Yes, he is a handsome guy, we love him very much, and are so relieved that things are improving thanks to so many people willing to help a poor old dog. It was pretty scary for a while, there!

The dog situation is awesome! I have the progress all stored under a tag you can check out here. I actually just saw him this morning, and he was looking GREAT! He acts like 5 years younger, as well, which is so nice - you can tell he is healthy. Thank you for asking!

Well, thank God this is finally inked. Now to just do the flat coloring, and the 10,000 sparkle and shimmer effects that have to get embroidered onto that dress. Haha. Total… walk in the park. Yes. “Sparkles” is my middle name!

My schedule is randomly being thrown for a loop this week, and now I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to finish the page for Friday. I really, REALLY didn’t want to take any other weeks off for this chapter, it’s only 4 more pages, then I actually get to take a couple weeks off to rebuild a buffer… the lacking of which has really hurt me, as you can tell.

Uugghh. I dunnoooo. I hadn’t anticipated spring/summer to be so hard, this year, but even then, there really isn’t an excuse. I have been utter crap at managing my time the past few months.

So, in the alternate reality where I wound up successful and decided to reboot an 80’s cartoon… (how could I not pick Jem? This cartoon had such influence on me from an aesthetic standpoint, I have not been able to outgrow the 80’s. Curse you and yet bless you, Jem!)

This will require a bit of you being familiar with the cartoon Jem to know what I am talking about. But it wouldn’t be anything TOO novel, I would want to do something where Jerrica’s father had been starting to subtly pioneer more and more focus on digital albums, individual music downloads, more emphasis on streaming content, and online band promotion prior to kicking the bucket, hence making the fact Synergy is this big, complicated techno-garble more prominent than ever. Synergy becomes not only the holographic deus ex machina that creates all the solutions to Jerrica’s problems, but a series of PROGRAMS under that title (think like iTunes) which help make music more accessible.

Raymond (that’s the bad guy who owned the other half of the company) would be gunning to keep the company in line with the more traditional industry practices, wanting to shut down online distributors, ratchet up executive profits, etc. etc. The same slimy villain stuff as before, but where he is trending more towards the old rather than the new.

Jerrica is trying to use all-girl band Jem and the Holograms to implement her own marketing ideas - pretty much all of which utilize the social media power of Synergy - and show not only that new methods can compete with long-held standards, but often that innovation is necessary to keep something going into the future yadda yadda you got the idea a few paragraphs ago.

I would be sure to pepper it with many underlying themes of girl power and combating sexism.

What does your lineart look like when you zoom in? It's super crisp! Do you use a huge canvas?

Nearly 7 years together has made it so that I am also now a bit of a morning person, haha, I can’t stay in bed past 8 am. I have also retained my night person tendencies, though? I can stay up ‘til 1 then be back up at 8. I do miss being able to sleep in, though…

Honey, it’s too early. Do they have cereal at concessions? This is one of those “labor of love” things they talk about, isn’t it? Going with someone to a 10 am movie because they JUST CAN’T WAIT. I am going to stare with great hypocritical judgment at anyone else in that theater. The movies, at 10 am. Really? Who dragged YOU, here?

(Well, granted, it’s not early for him since he’s been up since 5, as he visits this mysterious place called “the gym”, which, as I understand it, has some correlation to Pokemon, and that’s about as much as I know.)

I feel like earrings reading “SYN” “ERGY” in rhinestone font are pretty inconspicuous.

(I will actually ink and color these for posting tomorrow, along with my UNNECESSARILY LONG IDEA RANT for what I’d do if you asked me to reboot Jem. And yes, I do actually want to design the other Holograms, and maybe even the Misfits and Rio… just not all at once. :’D)

Evening folks. So I finally printed out that zine I was yakking about earlier, and whaddaya know, it doesn’t look half bad! Here are a few photos snapped in the stygian gloom of my bedroom;

It’s 5.5” x 8.5” and contains 40 pages in glorious, eye-catching monochrome. It features all the dime-a-dance drawings — 24 in all — plus a few other odds and ends. Watch as a small man with a silver nose jitterbugs his spats off for ten lousy cents a dance. Perfect for fans of facial prosthetics, strangely-proportioned ladies and improbable dance moves.

They’re going to be $10 a pop, which I realize might seem a bit much for a zine, but they’re printed on nice, heavy paper and the printing costs were a little steeper than I’d anticipated. I am feeling a lot better today, even though the issues from last night are unresolved. Factor that on top of that adorable picture Cami did (which is where I got my NEW ICON~) and I’m on the up and up.
